Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University has been promoted by Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) to create a world class University in energy education and research with special focus on the oil and gas sector. The university has further expanded its programs to address the need for trained human reource in the domains of engineering, management and humanities.

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology (RGIT) is established by Sir M.Visvesvaraya Education Trust Bangalore in 2001 with an objective of promoting research oriented advanced courses in field engineering. The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MOP&NG), Government of India set up The Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) at Jais, Dist. Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh through an Act of Parliament (“Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology Act 2007").

The Annamalai University is a unitary, teaching, and residential university.
